The possible creation of a Planning and Zoning Commission is among the items expected to be discussed when the Cave Spring City Council meets for its Aug. 4 work session. A proposed ordinance would establish an advisory board to review planning, zoning and land use matters, and make recommendations to the council. Under the current draft, the commission would consist of three voting members appointed by the city council. Final authority on legislative planning and zoning decisions would remain with the council. The draft ordinance is intended to serve as a starting point for discussion rather than a final proposal. Council will revisit cemetery maintenance after learning last month that mowing costs for Cave Spring Cemetery could increase substantially.
