Council Approves Agreement for Maintenance Services

A new memorandum of understanding with the Floyd County Correctional Institution (FCCI) will provide the city with part-time maintenance services through February of 2027. The Cave Spring City Council unanimously approved the agreement during the October 13, 2026 meeting.

Under the terms of the agreement, FCCI will provide a five-person work detail with an assigned detail officer four to six days per month at a rate of $300 per day. The projected cost through February 2027 is expected not to exceed $9,000.

The council approved several other requests and purchases during Tuesday night’s meeting including:

  • A beer and wine license for Stagecoach Pizza.
  • The second reading of the 90-day commercial permit moratorium.
  • A request from the Rome Shakespeare Festival to rent the community center for $1,000 for a June 7-11, 2027 summer camp.

  • $2,750 to replace a garage door at the fire station.
  • $1,679.69 for new signage for the police and fire departments, including a sign identifying the fire station as Sam Stewart Hall.
