City Manager Interviews to Begin Feb. 19

I am pleased to announce that there is a called meeting tomorrow, Feb. 19, 2026, for the purpose of interviewing candidates for the Cave Spring city manager position.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. The interviews will take place in executive session.

This is an exciting step forward as we work to identify the right individual for this important position.

Dec. 4, 2025 Work Session and Council Meeting

Though I cannot vote on anything until next month, I want to keep you informed about what is happening with your city government. Tonight’s work session and regular meeting covered a lot of ground. Rather than running through every agenda item, here are a few highlights. Work Session Motel update - According to City Manager Nick McLemore, renovations on the motel are moving forward.  Lights on city hall property - The city is going to ensure that the parking lot and sidewalks are adequately lit. Sewer project - Work is wrapping up and the contractors are going through some final testing and punch-list items.  Police equipment - Chief Lacey brought a request before council regarding new equipment for the police department including pistols, shotguns, shotgun racks, body cameras, radar units, a computer and software. The city is moving forward with the purchase of some items through regular purchasing procedures and will get additional bids for the bigger ticket items. The softw...

Notice of the resignation was posted on the city’s Facebook page on Oct. 24, 2025 and a Rome News Tribune article in which the city manager was interviewed about his decision ran on Oct. 27, 2025. On Dec. 29, 2025, the city manager provided council with an updated job description which he distributed to the Rome Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia Municipal Association.
